1) Efforts by governmentUnder the support of national funding, the development of Yi script information processing technology achieved breakthroughs from the 1980s to the 1990s:  
In 1982, the PGYW Yi Computer (‘PGYW彝文计算机’) was developed;  

In 1984, the Microcomputer Yi Script Processing System YWCL (‘微型计算机彝文处理系统 YWCL’) was developed;  
In 1986, the Computer Laser Yi/Chinese Text Editing and Typesetting System (‘计算机激光彝文/汉文编辑排版系统’) was created, which was China’s first text processing system for ethnic minority scripts using laser phototypesetting technology;  
In 1992, the ‘Peking University Founder’s Yi Script Laser Phototypesetting System’ (北大方正彝文激光照排系统) was successfully developed.  
In 1997, the ‘Shamalayi Input Method’ (沙玛拉毅输入法) was introduced;  


After the year 2000:  

In 2003, Computer Yi Script Input Code and Its Keyboard(计算机彝文输入码及其键盘) received a national patent;  
In 2005, the Secondary School Chinese-Yi Comparative Electronic Dictionary(中小学汉彝对照电子词典) and the Research and Development of the Full-text Database of Yi Script Literature (彝文文献全文数据库研究与开发) both filled domestic gaps;  
In 2006, Southwest Minzu University cooperated with Peking University Founder to develop the UNICODE Yi script system (UNICODE 彝文系统), available at https://decodeunicode.org/en/u+A000  
In 2008, the Yi-Chinese Bilingual Parallel Corpus and Terminology Database (彝汉双语平行语料库和术语库) developed in 2008 is the first in China and the world for Yi and Chinese;  
In 2009, the success in developing the ‘Yi Language Acoustic Parameter Database’(彝语声学参数数据库) in cooperation with Southwest Minzu University.  
In 2009, the successful creation of the Yi script mobile phone, integrating the long-standing Yi traditional culture with mobile communication technology.  
In 2011, the Yi-Chinese-English trilingual parallel corpus (彝-汉-英三语平行语料库) was established;  
In 2012, the Yi script smart input method, Yi script Android smart handwriting phone were created and opened to the public, which laid a solid foundation for the development of Yi script information processing technology.  
2) Efforts by Yi scholars With the support of national funding, academically-oriented Yi scholars have established a number of influential language resource databases for information processing. In addition to the establishment of corpora, there has also been the creation of Yi language websites and the launch of Yi script mobile phones.

Development and Construction of Yi Script Websites
In the year 2001, the ‘Yi Script Window Platform’, developed under the leadership of Professor Shamalayi (沙马拉毅) from Southwest Minzu University, was completed. The establishment and launch of the Yi Studies website, along with the development and application of Yi script multimedia platforms.

Development of Yi Script Mobile Phones
In May 2009, Southwest Minzu University and Beijing Wangdao Company jointly developed the Yi script mobile phone, which was the first ethnic script mobile phone in China. These phones feature an all-Yi script interface, editing, sending and receiving Yi script text and multimedia messages, Yi script pinyin input and handwriting input, Yi ethnic style images, ringtones, and Yi script e-books.  
3) Efforts by active cultural curatorsScholars from higher education institutions with a foundation in computer science, and folk curators among the Yi community collect vocabulary and records, and create tools tailored to the corpus development status of small regions. These well-educated scholars and elites share the established corpus packages as open-source resources without charge.
